S|S: What are your top 3 treasured pieces in your outdoor urban jungle?
Room Sauce: That is easy! The DIY green wall first comes to mind. The view from our patio was originally of a busy street and an empty city lot. The bamboo fence and greenery are key to creating privacy inside your sanctuary.

Secondly, Jeff and I adore the plants! Each plant is unique in its own way and add lots of layers to the outdoor living decor. This was my first year learning about container gardening in the city. I must say they help reduce the stress of the daily hustle and bustle. I look forward to adding more to the collection and learning what plants best suit the New York City climate.

Last but not least, I must admit I am a fan of abstract art if you haven’t already noticed. Creating custom art is a great way to personalize a space and relax the mind. It is also an affordable option and fun to make.
“There was a gap in the green wall that I wanted to cover,” says Bev. She took it upon herself, trusted her natural artistic eye, and put her brush to canvas. She plans to change out her art seasonally to keep it fresh and new.

S|S: You are truly an influence to us city dwellers! Do you have any insider advice for our readers on how they can design their own urban oasis?
Room Sauce: Create spaces you love being in. I’m inspired by places I have traveled to, but at the same time those exotic places on my bucket list that I will get to one day. Inspiration for our patio came from a trip that my Mom and I took to London in 2018. Still to this day I treasure that experience. It inspired me build an English garden inside a metropolitan concrete jungle. Who would have thought? It’s true what they say, opposites attract!
