Don’t be fooled by its prickly name! Moroccan cactus silk is derived from The Saharan aloe vera cactus, which belongs to the agave family. Sometimes called vegetable or sabra silk, this luxurious, cruelty-free fabric is known for its strength and durability. After the silk is extracted from the plant, fibers are hand-dyed using spice and botanical pigments. Traditional Berber symbols are hand-embroidered on each piece to create a one-of-a-kind design.
Please note: Because these pillows are handmade slight imperfections may be visible in the fabric. This is not considered a defect and adds a bit of history to each handcrafted pillow.
Pairs well with others.

Pillows from Plants?
Want to know the skinny on this environmentally friendly silk? Moroccans have been using this traditional process for centuries. After being hand-picked, the spiky leaves of the cactus are harvested, hammered, and then soaked to release fibers. The fibers are then hand spun to create thread, and dyed vibrant colors sourced from vegetables and plant-based pigment. Our silk is combined with camel wool and handwoven by Moroccan artisans to bring sustainability and style into your home.
